Description
Thelevi Double Ball Rattle
Classic double ball rattle thelevi from Ghana (West Africa) with adjustable rope length (max. 13 cm). Excellent quality and great, loud sound.
This double ball rattle consists of two balls filled with ceramic beads that are firmly connected by a rope. A combination of rattling and clicking sounds can be heard when the Thelevi is skillfully turned in the hand. A must for rhythm acrobats!
Thelevi has many names, it is also called kosika, clatter gourd, kashaka, asalato, aslatua or patica. The hard nuts do not come from a pumpkin, as the name suggests, but from the tree “oncoba spinosa”. Since the hard shells were once used to make containers for storing tobacco, the plant is also called the snuff box tree. The name fried egg tree is also common, because the flowers really do resemble fried eggs.
