Ernie Ball Nickel Wound electric guitar strings are made of wound (wrapped) strings from a mixture of nickel-plated steel wrapped around a tin-plated, hexagonal cross-section steel core. The plain strings are made from a special carbon steel alloy, which is then galvanized (coated with tin). By far the most popular strings, they produce a balanced and all-around excellent tone.
